This is What Dreams are Made of

So the day has finally come! The last class of EDTC 300 is here. I have come along way from when the semester first started over three months ago. The tools and tricks that I have learned from this class will be very helpful for my future career as a teacher.

As the title says, This is What Dreams are made of!

I guess this is the point in the semester where I can admit to the fact that it wasn’t all me coming up with the songs for my weekly blog posts. While I do have a pretty good repertoire of songs in my mind I needed a little bit of help from Buzzfeed. They have an article called A Definitive Ranking Of The Top 50 Disney Channel Songs Of All Time where I got a number of my video ideas from. And of course, I went with the top song for my Summary of Learning.

Check out my summary of learning video and if you want you can follow along with the lyrics below.

“What Dreams Are Made Of”
(from “The Lizzie McGuire (Movie)” soundtrack)

Hey now
Hey now

Hey now
Hey now

Have you ever seen such a beautiful tweet?
I could almost retweet it for all to see
When I see you tweeting, I go
Fo ah low
I would never want to miss this
‘Cause in my head I know what Twitter is

Hey now
Hey now
This is what EDTC is all about
Hey now
Hey now
This is what EDTC is all about
I’ve got somewhere I can blog
I’ve got somewhere I can tweet
This is what EDTC is all about
(Hey now…)

This is what EDTC is all about

Have you ever wondered what blogging is about?
You could search the world wide web and never figure it out
You don’t have to Google anything
No no no
Blogging is no mystery it’s
Everything that you are seeing

Hey now
Hey now
This is what EDTC is all about
Hey now
Hey now
This is what EDTC is all about
I’ve got somewhere I can blog
I’ve got somewhere I can tweet
This is what EDTC is all about
(Hey now…)

Open your eyes
(This is what dreams are made of)
Shout to your PLN
(This is what dreams are made of)

Then I see you coding, I go
Fo  ah low
Yesterday my feed was duller
Now everything’s #learningprojetcs

(Hey now)
(Hey now)
Hey now
This is what EDTC
This is what EDTC is all about
Hey now
Hey now
This is what EDTC is all about
I’ve got somewhere I can blog
I’ve got somewhere I can tweet
This is what EDTC is all about
(Hey now)
(Hey now)
Hey now
This is what EDTC
This is what EDTC is all about

Hopefully, you enjoyed that video. In all honesty, it was really out of my comfort zone. I much prefer to sing in the car rather than into a microphone. Even with lots of autotune and background it still sounds funny. Anyways, it had also been a long time since I did some editing on iMovie. It was a challenge, but I ended up really enjoying it. It took me back to my Communication Media classes in high school. If you want to see some of my work check out an example here.

Twitter has been a huge part of the learning experience. Looking at where I have come from the start of the semester until now is really cool to see. I was even able to participate in my first #saskedchat. I had been watching these chats for a while, but I was always too nervous actually join in one. It was slightly overwhelming but a very enjoyable experience. I hope to be able to continue to participate in these in the future.

The highlight of my Twitter career thus far was the reply I got from the U of R President, Vianne Timmons. This was in response to my tweet about a Leader-Post article that I read.

Another major aspect of the course has been blogging.

Blogging has been something that I have always been unsure about. I felt it was very beneficial in this class because it provided an opportunity to learn and network with others in the class. This professional learning is a very important aspect of not only this class but as a professional teacher down the road. I think that blogging is definitely something that I would like to implement in my future classroom one day. The skills learned from this class will allow me to much better implement this in my classroom.

My #learningproject has been another big component of the class. I was able to use a number of different forms of technology to learn French. You can check out some of my blogs here. Technolgy provides so many opportunities for us to learn. We must ensure that we use it properly and use it to its fullest. We owe it to our students to teach them how to appropriately use technology.

As this is the last semester of my undergraduate degree I figured it would be fitting to end my blogs with a video from High School Musical. In the movie, they are moving forward in their lives and in a way many of us are as well. So here is my final video of the semester.
