Miskâsowin

Miskâsowin means finding one’s sense of origin & belonging…So essentially who am I?

Well, my name is Conor and I am in my last semester of my undergrad degree with a focus in the Middle Years. I have lived in Regina my whole life and I am a product of the Regina Catholic School Division. My mom is a teacher with the division and I would be lying if I said that it did not have some impact on my decision to pursue education.

I have lived in the same house for the better part of my life (20 0f my 23 years). The biggest move that I have been apart of was when I moved from my old room upstairs to my room in the basement, which at the time was a pretty big deal. For me, home is where I feel most comfortable as I am around my family whenever I am home. I always think back to the house vs home debate, while I do live in a house, it really is a home to me and for that, I am very grateful.

I have always felt comfortable at school and it has often times been a second home for me. The people that I hang out with on a day-to-day basis are the same people that I have known since grade one. You often hear people say when you get to high school you won’t hang out with your friends from elementary school and they say the same thing when you get to university. I guess that makes us outliers. Even in the big pond that is university I was able to get involved with a number of different groups very early on and meet many new people. I consider myself very lucky that I have always enjoyed being in school and I think that has helped to shape me both personally and professionally.

That’s all for me now. Stay tuned for more exciting times with Conor!
